Getting There

Public Bus
If you are starting from Sarasota, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus to St. Petersburg. You can board the Route 99 bus that goes directly to the St. Petersburg area. Once you arrive in St. Petersburg, transfer to the PSTA (Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority) bus. Take the Route 30 bus towards Downtown St. Petersburg. Get off at the bus stop on 1st Ave N and 4th St N. From there, it's a short walk to South Straub Park. Head east on 1st Ave N, then turn left onto Bayshore Dr NE. The park will be on your right.

Bicycle Rental
You can rent a bicycle from one of the bike rental shops in Sarasota, such as Sarasota Bike Tours. Once you have your bike, head south on US-41 (Tamiami Trail) towards St. Petersburg. Follow the bike lanes on the trail as you cross the bridge into St. Petersburg. Continue biking until you reach 4th St N, then turn left. Follow 4th St N until you reach 1st Ave N, then turn right. Continue east until you reach Bayshore Dr NE, where you’ll find South Straub Park on your left.

If you are within walking distance in downtown Sarasota, you can walk to the nearest bus stop to catch a bus to St. Petersburg. However, if you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, start by heading south on Main St until you reach 5th St. Turn left onto 5th St and follow it as it leads you towards the waterfront. You can then follow the shoreline, which will eventually lead you towards the bridge to St. Petersburg. Once you cross, make your way towards Downtown St. Petersburg, and you can easily navigate to South Straub Park by using the nearby streets.
