Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from the Space Coast area, you will want to take FL-528 W from Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral. Continue on FL-528 W until you reach I-75 S. Merge onto I-75 S and follow it for approximately 50 miles. Take exit 141 for FL-867 S toward Sanibel. Continue on FL-867 S, which will take you directly to Sanibel Island. Once on the island, turn right onto Periwinkle Way, and follow it until you reach the Sanibel Lighthouse at 112 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957. Make sure to check for any tolls on I-75 and have cash or a compatible transponder ready.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a local bus service from the Space Coast area to Fort Myers. From there, you can use the LeeTran bus system. Board LeeTran Route 50, which goes to Sanibel Island. Be sure to check the schedule in advance as bus services may be limited. Once you arrive on Sanibel Island, you can either walk or use a taxi service to reach the Sanibel Lighthouse at 112 Periwinkle Way. Note that bus fares typically cost around $1.50, and it may take a couple of hours to reach your destination due to transfers.
