Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from downtown Tampa, take I-275 S towards St. Petersburg. Continue on I-275 S for about 20 miles. Take exit 17 for I-75 S toward Naples. After 4 miles, take exit 1 for US-41 S toward St. Petersburg. Follow US-41 S for about 10 miles until you reach the intersection with 54th Ave S. Turn left onto 54th Ave S and continue for about 5 miles. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto Fort De Soto Park entrance. Follow the signs to Battery Bigelow, which is located within Fort De Soto Park. Parking may incur a small fee, typically around $5 for a day pass.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Battery Bigelow via public transport, start by taking the HART bus route 360 from downtown Tampa to the Westshore Plaza. From there, transfer to the PSTA bus route 100X towards St. Petersburg. After about 45 minutes, disembark at the stop near 54th Ave S and US-41. From there, you will need to call a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or a taxi to cover the remaining distance to Fort De Soto Park, as public transport does not directly reach the park. Expect rideshare costs to be around $15-$25 depending on demand.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, consider biking to Battery Bigelow. From downtown St. Petersburg, take the Pinellas Trail heading south until you reach the intersection with 54th Ave S. Follow 54th Ave S until you reach the entrance to Fort De Soto Park. The bike ride is approximately 10 miles and provides scenic views of the area. Ensure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated.
