Chairlift
From Villard-Reculas, the most direct route to Signal de Villard is via the Villarais chairlift. The chairlift operates during both summer and winter seasons. A pedestrian day pass for the Villarais chairlift costs €4.50 for adults (13-71 years old) and €3 for children (5-12 years old). It is free for children under 5 and seniors over 71. The chairlift runs from 9 am to 4:30 pm in July and August. Check the operating hours at the Villard-Reculas Tourist Office or at the lift station. From the top of the chairlift, it's a short walk to the Signal de Villard viewpoint.

Hiking
From Alpe d'Huez, several hiking trails lead towards Signal de Villard. One option is to follow the marked trails towards Villard-Reculas, ascending gradually through the mountain pastures. This hike takes approximately 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take the Huez Express gondola from Alpe d'Huez to Huez Village and then hike up towards Villard-Reculas and Signal de Villard. Be aware that some trails may be steep and require a good level of fitness. Ensure you have appropriate footwear and carry sufficient water. There are no mandatory costs associated with hiking, but the Huez Express gondola costs around €8 per person for a single trip.

Driving
While it's not possible to drive directly to the very top of Signal de Villard, you can drive to either Alpe d'Huez or Villard-Reculas and then take the chairlift or hike. Parking in Alpe d'Huez is available in several open-air car parks, some of which are free. Covered parking is also available for a fee. In Villard-Reculas, there are free parking areas available. Be aware that parking can be limited during peak season, so arrive early. From either village, follow the signs for the chairlift or hiking trails leading to Signal de Villard. Parking discs are sold at the Tourist Office for €2 each.
