Getting There

  • Driving

    If driving, be aware that Gordes is best approached by car, taking small country roads. Parking is available in paid lots outside the village center. The main parking lot is located at the entrance to Gordes, off the Route de Cavaillon, costing €4 for the day. There are also two parking lots a little way up the Route de Murs. Parking near the village center can be challenging, especially on market days. Consider arriving early or later in the afternoon.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Gordes by public transport, take a train to Cavaillon from Avignon. From Cavaillon, bus line 917 will take you to Place du Château in Gordes. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes. A one-way bus ticket costs around €2.10. Keep in mind that public transport options are limited, and a car is generally recommended for exploring the region.

  • Walking

    Once in Gordes, the village is best explored on foot. Be prepared for steep cobblestone streets. From the main parking lots, it's a short walk into the village center. Walking from the parking lot at the bottom of the hill takes about 10 minutes uphill. Walking from the preferred main lot just above the village takes about 5 minutes downhill.
