The Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune, located in the heart of Burgundy's wine region, presents a captivating experience that combines history with unusual collections. Originally built in 1340 for Duke Eudes IV, the castle was dismantled in 1478 but later restored in the early 17th century. In 1972, it was purchased by a winegrower, Michel Pont, who began assembling the unique collections that visitors can now explore. The chateau's grounds and buildings house an extraordinary assortment of aircraft, including around 100 fighter planes and helicopters. Aviation enthusiasts can admire MIGs, Dassault planes, and aircraft from the Patrouille de France. Inside, a remarkable collection of Abarth racing cars, one of the finest and rarest in the world, awaits discovery. Motorcycle aficionados will appreciate the museum featuring over 200 models dating from 1903 to 1960, including those of famous figures like Jean Mermoz and Canon Kir. Beyond the aircraft and vehicles, the chateau also displays a collection of around thirty straddle tractors, twenty fire trucks, and over 7,000 scale models. Visitors can also explore the Aerospace Museum, which opened in 2019 and features replicas of Ariane rockets and communication satellites. The entry ticket grants access to all the collections, the chateau's furnished cellars, and the park. The on-site Petit Château houses a tasting cellar and restaurant where visitors can sample and purchase the estate's wines.
