Discover more about Bobsleigh La Plagne La Plagne Olympic track

La Plagne is home to France's only bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track, a legacy of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Nestled below Plagne 1800 in the hamlet of La Roche, the track descends 124 meters over 1.5 kilometers, navigating 19 bends with sections both covered and open to the elements. Before La Plagne was a ski resort, locals raced bobsleighs on the roads, using the area's intense cold to their advantage. This passion was formalized when La Plagne was chosen to host the Olympic bobsleigh events in 1992, drawing 350 athletes from 27 countries. Today, the track continues to host international competitions and training sessions. Thrill-seekers can experience the track in various ways : * **Bob Raft:** A self-guided, self-braking bobsleigh for up to four people, reaching speeds of around 80 km/h. * **Speed Luge:** A solo descent on a streamlined toboggan, reaching speeds of approximately 90 km/h. * **Bob Racing:** Ride with a professional driver in a real bobsleigh, experiencing speeds up to 120 km/h and forces up to 3.5G. The track is open to the public in the afternoons during the winter season, typically from December to March. Booking in advance is essential, as the experience is very popular.
