In 1410, the city's residents sought permission from the King to erect a clock tower with a public-use bell. Before this, citizens relied on the Cathedral's bell for timekeeping and warnings, leading to disputes until an agreement was reached to transfer the bell to the city. The tower was reconstructed in 1752 and adorned with an octagon-shaped wrought iron bell tower. The wrought-iron campanile, which houses the bell that continues to chime on the hour, was added in the 18th century.Today, the Clock Tower stands 31 meters high in the historic city center.
