If you're starting from the city center, head towards the Palais des Beaux-Arts, located at Rue de Télégraphe. From there, walk northwest on Rue de la République until you reach the junction with Rue de Paris. Turn left onto Rue de Paris and continue straight until you reach the Place de la République. From the Place de la République, head towards the Rue de la Deûle, which will take you towards the beautiful area of the Citadelle. Follow Rue de la Deûle until you see the signs for the Jardins familiaux de la Citadelle. Once you reach the Voie Piétonne du Bois de la Deûle, La Mare will be located in the gardens along this path.

Begin your journey at the Lille Europe train station. Take Metro Line 1 (the yellow line) towards '4 Cantons' and get off at 'République Beaux-Arts' station. Once you exit the station, head towards Rue de la République and turn left. Walk straight until you reach the Place de la République. From here, follow the instructions above for walking towards the Jardins familiaux de la Citadelle, and follow Rue de la Deûle to reach La Mare.
