Discover more about Église des Saints-Anges

The Église des Saints-Anges, located in Limoges, is more than just a church; it's a testament to community growth and artistic expression. Constructed initially as a chapel in 1913 under Canon Courteix, it served the developing neighborhood of Grange-Garat. Architect Xavier-Georges Gay-Bellile designed the chapel on land donated by Madame De Faye. First named Chapelle du Secours, then Chapelle des Tuilières, it was dedicated to the holy guardian angels. In 1928, the chapel was transformed into the Église des Saints-Anges. Abbé Pény, who had been ministering in the area since 1912, spearheaded the transformation, expanding the building with a sacristy, meeting rooms, and a chapel adorned with three stained glass windows by Francis Chigot. In 1958, further expansion included two lateral chapels, effectively doubling the church's capacity and adding six new stained glass windows, also by Francis Chigot. These windows, with their geometric designs and vibrant colors, create a warm and prayerful atmosphere. The church's interior features artwork, including tapestries created by Sylvie Christophe that frame the choir. The stained glass windows throughout the church, some dating back to the original chapel's construction, add to the spiritual ambiance. Today, the Église des Saints-Anges continues to be an active parish church, managed by a dedicated team that ensures its doors are open and welcoming to all.
