  • Walking

    From Place de la République in the city center, head east on Rue de la République. Continue for approximately 500 meters until you reach Rue Neuve Saint-Étienne. Turn right, and the Musée de la Résistance will be at number 7 on your left. The walk is roughly 10 minutes from the city center.

    The STCL bus network serves the main districts of Limoges. Check the STCL website for the most up-to-date routes and schedules. From July 1, 2025, public transport is free on weekends. Otherwise, a single ticket costs around €1.60.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available throughout Limoges. You can find them at taxi stands or book in advance. A taxi ride from the train station to the museum typically costs between €6 and €7.50 during the day. The Musée de la Résistance, situated in a 17th and 18th-century former convent in Limoges, stands as a tribute to the French Resistance during World War II. Inaugurated in 2012, the museum has evolved into a center for 20th-century history, focusing on the values of citizenship and solidarity embodied by the Resistance.The museum's collection comprises nearly 800 items displayed across two floors, meticulously retracing the historical events of the Second World War. Exhibits include propaganda posters, weapons, coded messages, and personal belongings of those involved in the Resistance. A notable artifact is the Italian Reggiane RE-2002 aircraft, a symbol of local resistance, brought to Limoges by the Resistance fighters as a trophy.The museum also features temporary exhibitions, an educational room for school events, and a documentation center for researchers. The layout is organized into ten sequences, guided by a scientific program developed by historians specializing in World War II. The museum aims to educate visitors, especially the youth, about the sacrifices made to defend the Republic's fundamental values.Beyond its historical exhibits, the museum also provides resources for understanding the events, including audio guides in multiple languages and interactive experiences. It has been recognized for its accessibility, holding the Tourism and Disability label since 2017.
