Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Limoges, the main city in the Limousin region. Head east on the N520 towards Saint-Jean-Ligoure. After approximately 20 km, take the exit toward D9. Continue on D9 for about 5 km until you see signs for Chateau de Châlucet. Follow these signs to the castle which is located at Lieu Dit, Tours de Chalusset, 87260 Saint-Jean-Ligoure. Parking is available near the site, usually free of charge.
Public Transportation
To reach Chateau de Châlucet by public transportation, take a train from Limoges to La Souterraine. From La Souterraine, take a local bus toward Saint-Jean-Ligoure. Check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited. Once you arrive in Saint-Jean-Ligoure, it's about a 20-minute walk to the castle. Head east on Rue de la Gare, then follow the signs leading you to Lieu Dit, Tours de Chalusset. Make sure to check the return bus times for your trip back.
Bicycle
For those who enjoy cycling, it is possible to bike to Chateau de Châlucet from Limoges. Take the D2000 road heading east out of Limoges, then connect to the D9. It is approximately a 30 km ride, which will take around 1.5 hours depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules. Upon arrival, there are spots to lock your bike near the entrance.
Walking
If you are already in the Saint-Jean-Ligoure area, you can walk to Chateau de Châlucet. From the village center, take Rue de la Gare heading east. Follow the signs that lead towards Lieu Dit, Tours de Chalusset. The walk is approximately 4 km and should take around 50 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views along the way as you approach the castle.
