Car
If you are driving, take the D947 road which connects various towns in the Loire Valley. From Amboise, head southwest on the D751 toward the D751A. Continue on the D751 until you reach the D947. Follow the signs for Saumur. Upon entering Saumur, continue on Avenue du Général de Gaulle. The Château de Saumur will be on your right. There is parking available nearby, which may incur a fee, typically around €2 to €5 for a few hours.
Train
For those using public transportation, take a train from Tours or Angers to Saumur. Trains run regularly, and the journey takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Upon arriving at Saumur train station, exit and follow the signs toward the town center. The Château de Saumur is about a 15-minute walk from the station. You will walk straight along Avenue de la République, then take a left onto Rue de la Caverne which leads directly to the château.
Bus
There are also regional bus services that connect towns in the Loire Valley to Saumur. Check the local bus schedules for routes from nearby towns such as Chinon or Montsoreau. The bus will drop you off at the main bus station in Saumur, from where it is a 10-minute walk to the Château. Follow Rue de la Caverne toward the château.
