Getting there

Car

If you are driving, take the A64 motorway towards Tarbes. Exit at Tarbes Est (Exit 12) and follow the signs for D935 towards La Mongie. Continue on D935 for about 30 kilometers, passing through Bagnères-de-Bigorre. As you approach La Mongie, watch for signs directing you to Pic du Midi de Bigorre, which is located at the end of the road. There is a parking area available at the base where you can leave your car.

Public Transportation

For public transportation, take a train to Tarbes from major cities in Midi-Pyrénées. From Tarbes train station, you can take a bus to Bagnères-de-Bigorre, which operates regularly. Upon reaching Bagnères-de-Bigorre, transfer to the bus service that goes to La Mongie. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in La Mongie, follow the signs to the cable car station that will take you up to Pic du Midi de Bigorre. Note that the cable car has an additional cost of around €34 for a round trip.

Cable Car

After reaching La Mongie, the only way to ascend to Pic du Midi de Bigorre is via the cable car. Purchase your tickets at the cable car station and enjoy the scenic ride. The cable car operates from 9 AM to 5 PM, and it is advisable to check the exact timings and availability in advance. The round trip costs approximately €34, and the journey takes about 15 minutes each way.
