Discover more about Belleville Park

Parc de Belleville, located in Paris' 20th arrondissement, is a unique green space with a rich history and stunning views. Situated on the highest hill in Paris, reaching 108 meters, the park provides visitors with panoramic vistas of the city, including the Eiffel Tower and Tour Montparnasse. In the Middle Ages, the Belleville area was covered in vineyards, with monasteries cultivating grapes on the slopes. Being outside the city walls meant taverns and inns flourished, offering wine exempt from Paris taxes. Today, a small vineyard within the park serves as a reminder of this past. During the 19th century, Belleville transformed into a working-class district. However, the area was considered unsanitary, and in the 1980s, the city decided to redevelop the area, resulting in the creation of Parc de Belleville in 1988. Designed by architect François Debulois and landscaper Paul Brichet, the park features a modern design with tiered pathways, a long cascading fountain, and diverse vegetation. Today, Parc de Belleville is home to over 1,200 trees and shrubs, as well as a variety of flowers and birds. Visitors can enjoy the park's open-air theater, playground, and ping-pong tables. The Maison de l'Air, located within the park, offers exhibits about air quality and the environment. The park provides a serene escape from the bustling city, attracting both locals and tourists seeking relaxation and beautiful scenery.
