Discover more about Lac Daumesnil

Lac Daumesnil, nestled in the Bois de Vincennes, is a 12-hectare artificial lake created during the Second Empire under Napoleon III. Inspired by London's parks, it was designed by engineer Jean-Charles Alphand as a green space for Parisians. The lake is a haven of tranquility, offering a picturesque setting for leisurely activities. The lake features two islands, Île de Reuilly and Île de Bercy, connected by suspension bridges. Île de Reuilly boasts a romantic rotunda, a cave, and an artificial waterfall. Visitors can rent rowboats to explore the lake. The perimeter of the lake is环绕着一条小路“莫里斯-博伊特尔长廊”,非常适合放松散步、慢跑和骑自行车. Lac Daumesnil is also a great place for birdwatching, with opportunities to spot various bird species. The lake is easily accessible by public transport, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. While swimming is not allowed, the lake offers boat rentals and a charming restaurant, Chalet des Iles Daumesnil. The surrounding Bois de Vincennes provides additional attractions such as the Paris Zoological Park and the Parc Floral.
