Getting There

• Public Bus

  If you're starting from Papeete, head to the main bus terminal known as Gare routière. Look for buses heading toward Taiarapu-Est; specifically, you can take bus number 21 or 22. The journey will take about 1 hour. Ask the driver to let you off at the closest stop to Plateau de Taravao. Once you get off, you may need to walk a short distance uphill to reach the viewpoint.

• Bicycle Rental

  For those feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Papeete. You can find rental shops along the waterfront. Head southeast on the coastal road, following signs towards Taiarapu-Est. The ride will take approximately 2 hours, depending on your pace. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Plateau de Taravao as you approach the area. You'll need to park your bike and walk the final few minutes to the viewpoint.

• Walking

  If you're already in the Afaahiti area and want to explore on foot, start from the main road that leads toward Taiarapu-Est. Walk along the coastal path, enjoying the views of the ocean. After about 30 minutes of walking, you'll reach the entrance to Plateau de Taravao. It's a short uphill trek from there to the viewpoint where you can take in the breathtaking scenery.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct option, you can hail a taxi from anywhere in Tahiti. Make sure to specify 'Plateau de Taravao' as your destination. The driver will take you directly to the viewpoint, which will take about 30-40 minutes from Papeete. Taxi fares may vary, so confirm the price before starting your journey.
