Getting There
Bus
From Papeete, take the local bus (also known as 'le truck') heading towards Papara. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station near the waterfront. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Papara. The ride takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Papara, you will need to walk towards the beach. Head south along the main road, passing small shops and local residences. Continue walking for about 15 minutes until you reach the entrance to Taharuu Beach, which is located on your right.
Bicycle
If you prefer a more active option, you can rent a bicycle in Papeete. Start your ride heading south along the coastal road towards Papara. The distance is approximately 30 kilometers, which should take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your speed. Once you arrive in Papara, look for signs to Taharuu Beach. The entrance is located off the main road, and you can lock your bike near the beach area.
Walking (from Papara)
If you are already in Papara, you can walk to Taharuu Beach. From the center of Papara, head south along the main road (Unnamed Road Papara). It's about a 15-minute walk. Look for the signs pointing towards the beach. The entrance will be on your right side. The path is straightforward, with beautiful scenery along the way.
