Car
If you are traveling by car, begin your journey in Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. Head east along Route 1, which is the coastal road that runs along the island. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 30 kilometers. You will pass through several small towns, including Faaa and Pirae. As you approach Hitiaa O Te Ra, keep an eye out for signs indicating Cascade Vaimahuta. Once you reach the town of Hitiaa O Te Ra, follow the signs to the waterfall. There is a parking area available near the entrance to the trail.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Cascade Vaimahuta using public transportation, take a bus from Papeete to Hitiaa O Te Ra. Look for bus lines that head towards the eastern part of Tahiti, such as the 'Papeete - Hitiaa O Te Ra' route. The bus journey will take approximately 1 hour and costs around 300-500 CFP (Pacific Francs). Once you arrive in Hitiaa O Te Ra, disembark at the nearest stop to the waterfall. From there, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the entrance of the trail leading to Cascade Vaimahuta.
