Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Libreville, the capital of Gabon. Drive east on the N1 highway towards Akanda. After approximately 20 km, take the exit toward the N2 highway heading south. Continue on the N2 for about 15 km until you reach the junction for the road leading to Mbanié. Follow the signs indicating 'Mbanié' and drive for another 10 km until you reach the ferry point. You will need to park your car and pay a small fee (around 2000 CFA) for the ferry to cross to the island of Mbanié. The ferry operates regularly, so you should not have to wait long.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, begin your trip in Libreville by taking a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from the central station to Akanda, which costs approximately 1000 CFA. From Akanda, catch another taxi-brousse heading towards the N2 highway. Inform the driver that you need to get off at the junction for Mbanié. The fare should be around 500 CFA. After disembarking, you will need to walk approximately 1 km to reach the ferry terminal. Be prepared to pay around 2000 CFA to cross to Mbanié via ferry.
Ferry
Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, you will board a small ferry that will take you across the water to Mbanié. The ferry ride typically takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to check the ferry schedule ahead of time, as it may vary based on weather conditions and time of day. It's advisable to arrive at the terminal early during busier times, such as weekends, to secure your spot.
