From Franceville, take the N1 highway southeast towards Moanda. Continue towards the border with the Republic of Congo, then turn south towards Bakoumba. Follow the signs to Parc de la Lekedi, located just outside Bakoumba. Be prepared for potentially rough road conditions. There may be a small entrance fee.

From Libreville, take a bush taxi (shared minibus) to Franceville, a journey of approximately 10 hours. From Franceville, take a local taxi or shared vehicle to Bakoumba. Upon arrival in Bakoumba, hire a motorcycle taxi for the final 10 kilometers to Parc de la Lekedi. Ensure you have cash for fares. Bush taxi from Libreville to Franceville: 5,000-10,000 CFA francs. Spanning 14,000 hectares, the park is managed by the Lékédi Biodiversité Foundation, which was created in 2021 by Comilog and the Eramet Group. Originally established to diversify the local economy after the decline of manganese mining, the park now focuses on conservation, research, and tourism.The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including buffalo, primates, bushpigs, and harnessed guibs. It also serves as a rehabilitation center for orphaned chimpanzees, gorillas, and other monkeys, with the goal of reintroducing them into their natural habitat. Two groups of habituated mandrills offer a unique opportunity for close observation, though visits are restricted to small groups and children over 12.A highlight of the park is the 365-meter-long suspension bridge, constructed from the cables of a former manganese cableway. This bridge provides a thrilling vantage point for observing chimpanzees in the canopy and enjoying panoramic views of the Mighola River. Visitors can also take boat trips on the Lekedi River, offering chances to spot dwarf crocodiles, monitor lizards, and various bird species.
