Getting there

Car

From Stepantsminda, head north on the Georgian Military Highway. The waterfall is visible from the road. Look for a safe place to park before approaching the waterfall.

Marshrutka

Take a marshrutka (minibus) from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda. From Stepantsminda, the waterfall is a short taxi ride or a longer walk north along the Georgian Military Highway. Taxis in the city should not cost more than a few USD. The marshrutka from Tbilisi to Kazbegi costs approximately 10 GEL.

The river originates from powerful springs in the Aragvistavi area of the Keli Highland, initially flowing gently across the lava plateau before carving its way through a trough-shaped valley. As it reaches the eastern edge of the Mephisqalo lava flow, the river dramatically transforms into the cascading Ereto Waterfall.The waterfall is visible from the Georgian Military Highway, making it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the region. The surrounding landscape is characterized by alpine meadows and rugged mountain terrain, offering a serene and picturesque setting for visitors.
