Getting There

  • Car

    If you have access to a car, start your journey by heading south from Meskheti city center. Follow the signs towards the E60 highway. Continue on the E60 for about 15 kilometers. Look for the sign for Khertvisi Fortress, which is located on the left side of the road. You can park your vehicle in the designated parking area near the fortress entrance.

  • Public Transportation (Minibus)

    From Meskheti, you can catch a minibus (also known as a marshrutka) heading towards Vardzia. Look for minibuses departing from the central bus station in Meskheti. The fare is usually around 1 GEL. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Khertvisi Fortress. The journey will take approximately 20-30 minutes. After getting off, walk a short distance (about 400 meters) towards the fortress.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk from Meskheti, it is about a 5 km trek to Khertvisi Fortress. Head south from the city center, following the main road (E60). Be prepared for some uneven terrain as you approach the fortress. It should take around 1 hour to reach the fortress on foot.
