If you are traveling by car from central Pshavi, start by heading southeast on the main road. Continue straight for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Motsameta. Turn right onto this road and follow the signs for Gelati Monastery. The monastery is approximately 5 kilometers from the junction. Keep an eye out for road signs, as they will guide you to the entrance of the monastery. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a marshrutka (minibus) from the Pshavi bus station heading towards Motsameta. The ride should take about 30 minutes. Inform the driver that you are going to Gelati Monastery; they will drop you off at the nearest point. From there, it is a short walk (about 1 kilometer) uphill to the monastery. Make sure to check the marshrutka schedule for the return trip, as they may not run frequently.
Walking
If you prefer to walk and enjoy the scenery, start from the center of Pshavi and follow the main road heading southeast. It’s approximately a 15-kilometer walk to Gelati Monastery, which may take around 3-4 hours. The route is mostly uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a trek.
