If you're driving from Mestia, take the Svaneti highway (E117) south towards Zugdidi. After approximately 40 kilometers, you will reach the village of Lentekhi. Continue on the same road for another 25 kilometers until you reach the town of Tsageri. From Tsageri, follow signs towards Dariali. The monastery complex is located about 20 kilometers from Tsageri. Be prepared for some winding roads in the mountainous terrain. The total journey should take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic.
Public Transportation
To reach Dariali Monastery Complex via public transport, start by taking a marshrutka (shared minibus) from Mestia to Zugdidi. This trip will take around 2 hours. Upon arriving in Zugdidi, transfer to another marshrutka heading towards Lentekhi. Once in Lentekhi, you will need to catch a taxi or find a local bus heading towards Tsageri, where you can find another taxi or shared ride to the monastery. Ensure to confirm the level of service with your driver, as some may not go all the way to the monastery. The entire journey may take approximately 4-5 hours, depending on connections and waiting times.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Mestia to Dariali Monastery Complex. This option is more expensive, typically ranging from 100 to 150 GEL for a one-way trip, but it will take you directly to the monastery without the need for transfers. The journey will take around 1.5 hours, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
