Getting There

• Car

  From your location in Altbayern, head towards Passau. Follow signs for the A3 motorway. Merge onto A3 and continue until you reach exit 1 for Passau. Follow the signs for ILZSTADT and then Oberhausstraße. Continue on Oberhausstraße until you reach the parking area near Veste Oberhaus. Note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €2 for a few hours.

• Public Transportation

  Take a regional train to Passau from your nearest station. Once you arrive at Passau Hauptbahnhof, exit the station and head to the bus stop located directly outside. Board bus line 5 towards 'Oberhaus' and disembark at the Oberhaus stop. From there, it's a short walk uphill to Veste Oberhaus. Be aware that a train ticket costs approximately €10-€15 based on your starting point.

• Walking

  If you are already in Passau, you can also walk to Veste Oberhaus. From the city center, head towards the Danube River and follow the riverside until you reach the pedestrian bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the signs up the hill towards Veste Oberhaus. The walk takes about 30 minutes and offers scenic views along the way, but be prepared for a steep incline.
