Discover more about Kurpark Partenkirchen

Kurpark Partenkirchen, nestled in the heart of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, is a serene escape offering visitors a blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. The park's origins trace back to 1893 when Georg Ludwig Mayer-Doß, a prominent cigar manufacturer and honorary citizen of Partenkirchen, commissioned the construction of Villa Christina near his residence. Designed by architect Manchot, the villa featured a striking tower, oriel windows, and wooden balconies, all set within a meticulously planned park. In 1930, the market of Partenkirchen leased the villa and park, transforming it into the Kurhaus Partenkirchen. This marked the beginning of its role as a health and wellness center. The municipality of Garmisch-Partenkirchen acquired the property in 1950, housing the Garmisch-Partenkirchen spa administration there until 1999. Today, the villa is home to the Richard Strauss Institute, where visitors can explore exhibits dedicated to the renowned composer. The park itself provides a tranquil environment for leisurely strolls and relaxation. Its well-maintained gardens, mature trees, and peaceful atmosphere make it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Throughout the year, Kurpark Partenkirchen hosts various events, including concerts and festivals, adding to its appeal as a community hub.
