Train
If you are in Cologne, head to Cologne's main train station (Köln Hauptbahnhof). From there, take an S-Bahn (S8 or S11) heading towards Düsseldorf. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, exit the train station and follow the signs for the 'U-Bahn' (subway) station located adjacent to the train station. Take the U-Bahn line U74, U77, or U79 towards 'Düsseldorf, Heinrich-Heine-Allee'. Travel for 2 stops and get off at 'Heinrich-Heine-Allee'. From here, it is a 10-minute walk to Düsseldorf Theater at Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz 1. Head south on Heinrich-Heine-Allee, then turn right onto Bismarckstraße, and continue straight until you reach the square.
Tram
From the center of Cologne, make your way to the nearest tram stop. Take tram line 12 towards 'Düsseldorf' or line 15 towards 'Düsseldorf' as well. The tram will take you directly to Düsseldorf, and the journey takes about 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Heinrich-Heine-Allee' stop. Once you exit the tram, walk south on Heinrich-Heine-Allee and then turn right onto Bismarckstraße. Continue straight until you arrive at Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz 1, where the Düsseldorf Theater is located.
Bus
To reach Düsseldorf Theater by bus, first find the nearest bus stop in Cologne. Take the bus line 720 heading to 'Düsseldorf'. The journey will take around 50 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus terminal in Düsseldorf, walk to the nearest tram station and take tram line U74 or U79 towards 'Heinrich-Heine-Allee'. Get off at the 'Heinrich-Heine-Allee' stop. Walk south on Heinrich-Heine-Allee, turn right onto Bismarckstraße, and continue straight until you reach Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz 1, where the Düsseldorf Theater is located.
