Getting there

Train

From Bonn Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take the S-Bahn line S12 towards Köln. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Köln Hauptbahnhof (Cologne Central Station), exit the station and follow the signs to the Dom (Cathedral). After exiting the station, head towards the Dom and then continue straight until you reach the Alter Markt, where you will find the Schmitz Column.

Bus

From Bonn, take Bus line 610 or 611 from Bonn Hauptbahnhof (main train station) to the bus stop 'Bonn, Poststraße.' From there, transfer to Bus line 130 heading to Köln. Get off at 'Köln, Neumarkt' bus stop. Walk towards Alter Markt, which will be about a 10-minute walk. The Schmitz Column is located in the center of the Alter Markt square.

Tram

From Bonn, take Tram line 66 headed towards Köln. Alight at the 'Köln, Neumarkt' stop. From the tram stop, walk towards Alter Markt, which is about a 10-minute walk. You will find the Schmitz Column in the middle of the square.

Walking

If you are already in central Bonn, head towards the Rhine River promenade and follow the signs to the Bonn ferry terminal. Take the ferry across the Rhine River to the Köln side (Cologne). Once you disembark, walk straight ahead towards the city center. The Alter Markt is about a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal, where you will find the Schmitz Column.
