From Erfurt, take tram line 1 from the main station (Erfurt Hauptbahnhof) heading towards 'Bischleben'. Alight at 'Anger' stop. From Anger, transfer to tram line 3 in the direction of 'Kühnhausen' and get off at 'Weimar, Goetheplatz'. From Goetheplatz, it’s a short 10-minute walk to the Duchess Anna Amalia Library. Head southeast on Goetheplatz towards Schillerstraße, then turn left onto Schillerstraße. Continue straight until you reach Platz der Demokratie, where the library is located at number 1.

If you are already in the city center of Erfurt, you can walk to the bus terminal at Anger. From there, take bus line 5 towards 'Weimar' and get off at 'Weimar, Platz der Demokratie'. The Duchess Anna Amalia Library is just across the street at Platz der Demokratie 1. Alternatively, for the more adventurous, you can walk the approximately 20 kilometers to Weimar, following the paths along the Ilm River for scenic views.
