From Essen Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take the S9 or RE14 train to Essen-Borbeck station (€6-€9). From Essen-Borbeck station, take bus line 140 directly to the 'Schloss Borbeck' stop (a short ride, included in the train ticket if a continuous journey) or tram line 103 to the 'Schloss Borbeck' stop (approximately a 5-minute walk). Tram 103 also runs from Essen city center (Rathaus/Porscheplatz).

From the A40 motorway, take exit 18 ('Mülheim-Winkhausen / Essen Borbeck') onto Aktienstraße towards Essen-Borbeck. Follow Aktienstraße to the end, then turn right onto Frintroper Straße (B231 towards Essen). Take the first left onto Fürstenbergstraße, then the next left onto Schloßstraße. Free parking is available along Schloßstraße. Note: Stopping directly in front of the castle to drop off passengers is permitted, but parking is not allowed due to fire access requirements.
