Car

If you are driving, head towards Wernigerode via the B244 road. From the center of the Harz Mountains, follow signs for Wernigerode. Upon entering the city, follow the signs to 'Schloss Wernigerode'. Public Transportation - Train

Take a regional train from your location in the Harz Mountains to Wernigerode. The closest major train station is in Bad Harzburg or Goslar. From there, catch a train towards Wernigerode, which typically takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Wernigerode train station, you can walk to the castle in about 20-25 minutes or take a local bus (Line 1) towards 'Schloss Wernigerode'. The bus fare is around €2-€3.

Alternatively, use the local bus network. If you are in areas like Quedlinburg or Braunlage, take a bus to Wernigerode. If you are already in Wernigerode, and staying close to the city center, you can walk to Wernigerode Castle. Start from the market square ('Marktplatz') and head towards 'Am Schloß'.
