Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Bad Harzburg. From the city center, take the B4 towards the Burgberg area. Follow the signs to the Burgberg cable car station. Park your car at the designated parking area near the cable car station. From the parking lot, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 km along the hiking trail to reach the Canossa Pillar. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train to Bad Harzburg. From the Bad Harzburg train station, you can catch a local bus (Bus line 810) that goes to the Burgberg cable car station. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. Once you arrive at the cable car station, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 km along the hiking trail to reach the Canossa Pillar. Make sure to check the bus schedule for return trips.
Hiking
If you prefer to hike directly to the Canossa Pillar, you can start from various points in the Harz National Park. One popular starting point is the Bad Harzburg center.
