Car
If you are driving, make your way to Dannewerk. From Flensburg, take the B200 road heading south. After about 25 km, take the exit toward Dannewerk. Follow the signs for 'Haithabu-Dannewerk' as you enter the village. The site is located at '24867 Dannewerk'. There is parking available nearby, which may incur a small fee (approximately €2 for a day).
Public Transportation
To reach Haithabu-Dannewerk by public transportation, start by taking a train to Schleswig from Flensburg or Husum. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once in Schleswig, transfer to bus line 1 or 2 heading toward Dannewerk. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Dannewerk' stop, and from there, it's a 10-minute walk to Haithabu-Dannewerk. Bus tickets cost around €3-4. Make sure to check the local timetable for accurate scheduling.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, Dannewerk is accessible via the extensive bike paths in North Frisia. If you are in Schleswig, follow the signposted bike route toward Dannewerk, which is approximately 7 km away. The ride takes about 30-40 minutes and is suitable for most cyclists. There are bike racks available at Haithabu-Dannewerk.
