The Enchanting Česky Les Protected Landscape Area

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from your location in Oberpfälzer Wald and head towards the A93 highway. Follow the signs for A93 towards Regensburg. After approximately 20 km, take the exit toward A6 toward Nuremberg. Continue on A6 for about 30 km, then take the exit toward B299. Follow B299 for about 15 km until you reach the town of Waldmünchen. From Waldmünchen, follow the signs to the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The area is located just across the border in the Czech Republic, so be sure to have your identification ready for border crossing. Parking is available at the entrance of the park.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus or train to Cham, a nearby town. From Cham, take the train to Waldmünchen. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Waldmünchen, you can either walk (approximately 5 km) to the Český les Protected Landscape Area or take a local taxi. Taxis can be booked at the train station, and the fare to the park is approximately 10-15 Euros. Be sure to check the local bus schedules as they may also provide direct routes to the park on weekends.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can bike to Český les from Oberpfälzer Wald. It's a scenic route that will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Start by heading east towards the B299 road, then follow the bike paths that parallel the road. Be sure to have a map or GPS since some paths may not be well marked. Upon reaching Waldmünchen, continue towards the park entrance which is approximately 5 km further. This option is great for enjoying the natural beauty of the area, but ensure you have water and supplies for the journey.
