Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Rheinfels Castle, start by navigating to the A61 highway. From there, take the exit toward B42 in the direction of St. Goar. Follow B42 until you reach St. Goar, and once you enter the town, follow the signs for 'Schloss Rheinfels'. The castle is located at Schlossberg 47, 56329 St. Goar. There are parking facilities available nearby, but be aware that there may be a fee for parking.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a train to St. Goar station. The train service is well-connected with frequent trains from major cities like Koblenz and Mainz. Once you arrive at St. Goar station, exit the station and turn right onto Bahnhofstraße. Follow this road uphill towards the castle; it's about a 15-20 minute walk. The walk is scenic but can be steep, so wear comfortable shoes.

• Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a bus to St. Goar. Check the local bus schedules for routes that operate from nearby towns. Upon arriving in St. Goar, follow the same directions as you would from the train station, heading uphill towards Schlossberg.   If you are already in St. Goar, walking to Rheinfels Castle is a delightful option. Begin at the town center and make your way to the castle by following the signs. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the Rhine River as you ascend. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk up to the castle from the center of St. Goar. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the path can be uneven.
