Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start by entering the A40 highway from your current location in Ruhr. Follow the A40 towards Witten. After approximately 15 km, take the exit toward Witten/Annen. Merge onto B226 and continue for about 5 km. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Hardensteiner Weg. After a short drive, you will see the signs for Hardenstein Castle on your right. There is parking available nearby, and it may cost around 2-4 Euros.

Train

For those using public transport, begin by taking the S-Bahn (S5, S8, or S9) from any central station in Ruhr towards Witten. Once you arrive at Witten Hauptbahnhof (main station), exit the station and take bus line 373 in the direction of 'Hardenstein'. The bus ride should take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Hardenstein', which is a short walk from the castle. A single ticket will cost around 3 Euros.

Walking

If you are already in the vicinity of Witten, you can also walk to Hardenstein Castle. From the Witten Hauptbahnhof, head south on Bahnhofstraße, turn left onto Kaiserstraße, and continue straight until you reach Hardensteiner Weg. Follow Hardensteiner Weg for about 2 km, and you will reach the castle. This walk may take approximately 25-30 minutes.
