Getting there

Train

From Essen Central Station (Essen Hauptbahnhof), take the S-Bahn (S1) towards Dortmund. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Get off at Dortmund Hbf (Main Station). From there, transfer to the U-Bahn (U45) towards Hörde. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Phoenixplatz' station, which is just a short walk from your destination.

Bus

If you prefer to take the bus, from Essen Central Station, take bus line 145 towards Dortmund. This will take approximately 35 to 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Phoenixplatz' stop. The entrance to Phoenix des Lumières will be directly in front of you, just a short walk away.

Bike

For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bike from various rental stations around Essen. Start from the city center, head towards the Ruhr river and follow the bike paths leading to Dortmund. It's approximately a 12 km ride, which will take around 45 minutes. Once you reach Dortmund, follow the signs towards Hörde and locate Phoenixplatz 4.

Walking

If you are feeling adventurous and want to experience the local area, you can walk to Dortmund. From Essen, follow the pedestrian paths along the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. It’s a scenic route of about 12 km, which may take around 2-3 hours. When you reach Dortmund, head towards the Hörde district to find Phoenix des Lumières at Phoenixplatz 4.
