Car
If you are driving, head towards Schwangau, which is the town nearest to Neuschwanstein Castle. Use the address Neuschwansteinstraße 20, 87645 Schwangau as your destination in your GPS. From major cities in Swabia like Ulm or Augsburg, take the A8 Autobahn towards Munich, then take the A95 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Finally, follow the B17 towards Fussen and Schwangau. There is a parking lot near the castle, which costs around €6 for the day.
Public Transportation
To reach Neuschwanstein Castle via public transport, first take a train to Füssen from major cities in Swabia such as Augsburg or Ulm. The train ride takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Füssen, take bus number 73 or 78 towards Hohenschwangau. The bus ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the 'Hohenschwangau' stop, and from there, it is a 30-minute uphill walk to the castle. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle bus from the stop, which costs around €3 each way.

If you are already in Hohenschwangau, you can walk to Neuschwanstein Castle. The walk is approximately 30 minutes uphill. Follow the signs directing you to the castle, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the path can be steep and rocky.
