Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, you can reach Bärenfelsen by taking the A93 highway. Start from any major city in the Upper Palatinate region and head towards the junction for A93. Merge onto A93 and continue driving until you reach the exit for A6 towards Nürnberg. After a few kilometers, take the exit marked for Birgland (92262). Follow the signs leading into the town, and once you are near Birgland, use your GPS to navigate to the exact coordinates (49.4371276, 11.6034054). The drive may take approximately 30 to 60 minutes depending on your starting point. There are no tolls on this route.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a train to the nearest major town, which is Amberg. From Amberg, you can catch a local bus (Line 30) heading towards Birgland. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as the frequency may vary. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Birgland, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) to Bärenfelsen, or use a local taxi service if you prefer a quicker option. The local bus ticket will cost around €3.00.

• Walking from Birgland

  If you find yourself in Birgland and decide to walk to Bärenfelsen, you can start from the main square in the village. Head northwest on Hauptstraße, which will turn into a gravel path after about 500 meters. Continue along this path for approximately 1.5 kilometers, following the signs for hiking trails leading to Bärenfelsen. The walk is scenic and will take about 30 to 40 minutes, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
