Car
To reach Wasserfall by car from Zugspitze, start by driving towards Grainau. From Zugspitze, head southeast on the B2 road. Continue on B2 for about 6 kilometers, then turn right onto Höllentalstraße. Follow Höllentalstraße until you reach the parking area near Höllentalsteig (approximately 3 kilometers). Note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €5 for a day. Once parked, follow the marked hiking trail towards Wasserfall.
Public Transportation
To access Wasserfall via public transportation, begin at the Zugspitze railway station. Take the Zugspitzbahn cogwheel train towards Grainau. The journey takes about 35 minutes. Once you arrive at Grainau station, exit and head to the bus stop outside. Board bus line 1 towards Eibsee, which will take you closer to the hiking trail (approximately 10 minutes). Get off at the stop 'Höllentalstraße'. From there, walk approximately 20 minutes on the Höllentalsteig trail to reach Wasserfall. A bus ticket costs around €2.50.
Walking
If you are in the vicinity of Grainau, you can also walk to Wasserfall. From the center of Grainau, head south towards Höllentalsteig. Follow the trail signs leading to Wasserfall. The walk will take approximately 1 hour and is around 4 kilometers long. This option is suitable for those who enjoy hiking and wish to take in the scenic views along the way.
