Walking
If you are in the heart of Cantonments, you can reach Independence Avenue by walking. Start by heading south on Liberation Road towards the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with 28th February Road. Turn left onto 28th February Road, and you will find Independence Avenue a short distance ahead on your right. This walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on your pace.
Public Transport (Tro-Tro)
For a more local experience, you can take a Tro-Tro from one of the nearby stations in Cantonments. Look for a Tro-Tro heading towards Osu or Accra Central. Once you board, inform the driver you wish to get off at 28th February Road. The fare is approximately 2-3 GHS. After disembarking, walk a short distance to your right to reach Independence Avenue.
Motorcycle Taxi (Okada)
If you prefer a quicker option, consider using a motorcycle taxi, known locally as Okada. You can easily find one by asking locals or looking for them near popular spots. Negotiate the fare, which typically ranges from 5-10 GHS, depending on your starting point in Cantonments. Ask the rider to take you to Independence Avenue, and they will navigate the route for you. Always ensure you wear a helmet for safety.
Use Tower Bridge as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
