Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of any city in Central Region, such as Cape Coast or Elmina. Head north on the N1 highway towards Accra. Follow signs for Accra and take the exit onto George Bush Highway (N1). Continue on the highway for about 45 kilometers (approximately 1 hour). Once you reach Accra, look for signs leading to the Central Business District (CBD). As you approach the city, take the exit towards the Ashiedu Keteke area. Make your way to 600 Bruce Rd, where the Jamestown Lighthouse is located. Parking may be available nearby, but be cautious of local parking regulations.
Public Transportation
To reach Jamestown Lighthouse using public transportation, you can take a bus or shared taxi from any town in Central Region to Accra. Look for buses heading to Accra, which are commonly found at bus terminals in Cape Coast or Elmina. The fare is typically around 10-15 GHS (Ghanaian Cedi) per person. Upon arrival in Accra, head to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, a major transportation hub. From there, you can take a shared taxi directly to Jamestown for about 5-10 GHS, or you can walk to the lighthouse, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from the circle. Be sure to ask locals for directions to Bruce Rd in the Ashiedu Keteke area.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous and would like to experience the local scenery, consider renting a bicycle in Accra. You can find rental shops around the city. Head towards the coast from the city center, and follow the road leading to Jamestown Lighthouse at 600 Bruce Rd. The ride is approximately 5 kilometers and will take about 20-30 minutes.
