Getting There

  • Car

If you're traveling by car, start from the central area of Accra. Head north on George Bush Highway (N1), then take the exit towards Achimota. Continue straight until you reach the Achimota Forest area. The zoo is located within the forest, and you'll find signage directing you to the entrance. There is parking available, but be prepared for a small fee, typically around GHS 5-10.

  • Public Transportation - Tro Tro

To reach Accra Zoo using public transport, find a Tro Tro heading towards Achimota. You can catch these from various points in Accra, such as Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Once on the Tro Tro, inform the driver that you want to stop at Achimota Forest. The fare should be around GHS 2-4. After getting off, walk towards the forest entrance; the zoo is located inside. Be aware that Tro Tros can get crowded, so travel during non-peak hours if possible.

  • Public Transportation - Taxi

For a more convenient but pricier option, you can take a taxi directly to Accra Zoo. You can hail a taxi from any point in Greater Accra or use a ride-hailing app. Provide the driver with the destination as 'Achimota Forest'. The fare will depend on your starting point but expect to pay around GHS 20-50. This option is the most direct and comfortable, especially for families or groups.
