Car
If you are driving from Takoradi, take the N1 highway towards Cape Coast. After approximately 45 km, take the exit towards Elmina. Follow the signs to Elmina and continue straight until you reach the town. The castle is located at 3MM2+4R3, Elmina, which is in the Original Old Town area. There is parking available near the castle, but it may be limited, so arrive early to secure a spot. Note that fuel costs vary, so plan accordingly.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, you can take a shared taxi or a trotro (minibus) from Takoradi to Cape Coast. The fare is usually around 5 GHS. Once in Cape Coast, transfer to another shared taxi or trotro heading to Elmina, which will cost about 2 GHS. The journey from Cape Coast to Elmina takes about 30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Elmina Castle or follow the signs as you approach the town. The castle is a short walk from the main road.
Walking
If you find yourself in the town center of Elmina, the castle is easily accessible by foot. From the main market area, head towards the coast and look for signs directing you to Elmina Castle. It's approximately a 15-minute walk from the market, and the path is straightforward. Enjoy the local scenery on your way!
