Discover more about Europa Point Lighthouse

Europa Point Lighthouse, also known as the Trinity Lighthouse, is a historic beacon that marks the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Built in 1841 by Trinity House, it has been a vital aid to navigation for almost two centuries. The lighthouse stands 49 meters above the sea and its light can be seen for over 20 miles. Originally, the lighthouse used a single-wick oil lamp with mirrors and lenses. Over the years, it has been upgraded with new lights and machinery, including a Douglass eight-wick burner in 1894 and full automation in 1994. In 2016, the lighthouse was converted to LED operation. Today, Europa Point Lighthouse is not only a functional aid to navigation but also a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the grounds, take in the panoramic views, and learn about the lighthouse's history. Nearby attractions include the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, and the Sikorski Memorial. The area is well-equipped with amenities, making it an ideal location for visitors of all ages.
