    Walking

    From the Moorish Castle, head north along Queen's Road. Continue past Princess Anne's Battery. Princess Caroline's Battery will be on your left, at the junction of Queen's Road and Willis's Road. The walk is uphill and takes approximately 15 minutes.

    Public Transport

    Take a bus from the city center to The Rock Hotel. From there, walk left onto Queensway and follow the signs uphill to Princess Caroline's Battery. A single bus ticket costs approximately £1.60 - £1.80. A day hopper ticket, allowing unlimited travel, is available for around £6.

    Princess Caroline's Battery, situated in the northern section of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve in Gibraltar, is a testament to the territory's long and storied military history. Constructed in 1732 and named after Princess Caroline, daughter of King George II, the battery played a crucial role in defending Gibraltar.Over the years, the battery has been updated to accommodate new artillery technology. In 1905, it was refurbished to house a 6-inch Mark VII gun. Although the battery has since been decommissioned and the gun removed, the site remains a significant landmark.Today, Princess Caroline's Battery is home to the Military Heritage Centre, an underground exhibition space that displays a collection of military artifacts dating from the 18th century to the present. Visitors can explore weapons, shells, and other relics, as well as the Memorial Chamber, which commemorates the regiments that have served in Gibraltar. The battery also offers phenomenal views of the bay, the city, and the Rock of Gibraltar.
