Olive oil tasting at Maison d'Olive is a great value and an enjoyable, intimate learning experience. Soula, the Olive Oil Sommelier is engaging, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond: first explaining how to taste olive oil like the judges, the criteria they use, and what "counts" and what doesn't for the "extra" designation. We also learned the many ways olive oil is used in Greece now and throughout history. We also met Costa, the owner. He grows olives and presses them to create his original high polyphenolic oil for athletes. He also creates many flavors of essential oil infused olive oil. This experience opened our minds and palates to many new ways to enjoy olive oil! Thank you, Soula and Costa!

One of the best small museums

It's easy to overlook this gem as it's on a side street without much signage, and the name suggests it only houses ancient Cycladic artifacts -- of which it does have a great collection. However, there's also a special collection of artifacts from Cyprus and plenty of easily accessible information about life in ancient Greece; really interesting stuff. There's a lovely gift shop and cafe as well. It's also close to the Benaki, Byzantine, and military hiatory museums if you are inclined to see one museum in the morning and another in the afternoon.
