Getting there

Car

If you're driving from Thessaloniki, take the A1/E65 highway towards Chalkidiki. After about 60 km, take the exit towards Nea Moudania and continue on the road for about 15 km. Follow signs for Petralona. Once you arrive in Petralona, look for signs directing you to the Petralona Cave, which is located just outside the village center.

Public Transportation

To reach Petralona Cave by public transportation, start by taking a bus from the KTEL bus station in Thessaloniki to Nea Moudania. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Nea Moudania, transfer to a local bus heading towards Petralona. The cave is located about 5 km from the village center, so it may be necessary to walk or take a taxi from the bus stop to reach the cave.

Car

From Katerini, drive towards the A1 highway and head south towards Thessaloniki. Take the exit towards Nea Moudania after approximately 45 km. Continue on the local roads, following signs to Petralona. The cave is well-marked, and you will find parking available nearby.

Public Transportation

If you are in Katerini, take a train to Thessaloniki. From Thessaloniki, follow the public transportation guidance mentioned above to reach Petralona Cave.
