Walking
The Acropolis of Monemvasia is accessible on foot from the Lower Town. Begin at the main gate of Monemvasia's Lower Town. Follow the main cobblestone street, and then take the winding path called Voltes Street uphill towards the Upper Town. The walk to the entrance of the Upper Town takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Note that the path is steep and uneven in places, so wear comfortable shoes.

Public Transport
If arriving by bus to Nea Monemvasia (the new town on the mainland), take the local bus that frequently runs to the entrance of the medieval castle. From the bus stop at the entrance, walk across the causeway and through the main gate to reach the starting point of the walking path to the Acropolis. Bus fare is approximately €2.

Taxis are available in Nea Monemvasia and can take you to the entrance of the medieval castle. From there, you can walk to the Acropolis. A taxi ride from Nea Monemvasia to the castle entrance costs approximately €10-€15.
